AT PATHWAYS

PathWays of Southwestern Pennsylvania provides services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism as they live meaningful, self-directed lives within their communities, serving individuals throughout Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties. PathWays partners with individuals and families to deliver services that reflect personal choice, dignity, and everyday life.

Through programs such as the Adult Training Facility, Residential Services, and Agency With Choice, PathWays offers a continuum of support that addresses daily living, skill development, social engagement, and meaningful participation in the community. These services work together to provide consistency while allowing individuals to shape their own paths forward.

Adult Services and Agency With Choice are built on the understanding that no two individuals experience adulthood in the same way. Supports must be flexible, responsive, and grounded in respect for each individual’s preferences, routines, and goals. At PathWays, services are designed to meet individuals where they are while supporting growth, independence, and community connection over time.

Daily routines play an important role in adult life. From morning preparation to planning for the day ahead, consistent and respectful support can shape how individuals experience independence and confidence. PathWays Adult Services and Agency With Choice emphasize individualized support that honors personal routines and preferences. Whether support is provided in the home or through community-based services, the focus remains on helping individuals participate in their daily lives in ways that feel comfortable and familiar.

Agency With Choice offers a variety of services to meet the needs of all individuals.  In home and community supports helps individuals live more independently at home and participate in their community.  Companion services help individuals participate more fully and meaningfully in home and community life.  Supported Employment is designed to ensure access to meaningful employment for individuals in IDD and Autism.  Respite services support individuals when the primary caregiver is unavailable.  Homemaker and Chore services assist the individual with keeping their home clean and safe to live in with the primary caregiver isn’t able to.  Supports broker services enhance natural suports and assist in future planning for the individual.  Vendor services include things like home adaptations, vehicle adaptations, educational support, assistive technology, specialized supplies, interpreter services, and transportation.

As needs and circumstances change, Agency With Choice services can adapt. This flexibility ensures that supports remain relevant and responsive over time, reinforcing independence and personal agency.

The Agency With Choice service model allows individuals to play an active role in directing their own supports while partnering with PathWays for administrative and programmatic guidance. Through Agency With Choice, individuals may select their own Support Service Professionals (SSPs), including trusted family members or community members. This model supports continuity, trust, and consistency while allowing individuals to maintain greater control over how services are delivered.
